1. Who we are

GuardMail is a Chrome browser extension and web service operated from the United Kingdom. References to “we”, “us”, or “our” refer to GuardMail.

2. What data we collect

When you join our waitlist, we collect your email address. When you use the GuardMail extension or scan tool, the content of the email or letter you submit is sent to our servers for analysis.

3. How we use your data

  • Waitlist emails: Used solely to notify you about product launches and updates. We will never sell or share your email with third parties.
  • Email/letter content: Analysed in real time to detect potential fraud. Content is processed and immediately discarded — we do not store, log, or retain the text of any email or letter you scan.

4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

We process your data under Article 6(1)(a) (consent) when you submit your email to the waitlist, and Article 6(1)(f) (legitimate interest in fraud prevention) when you use our scanning service.

5. Data retention

Waitlist email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Scanned content is not retained beyond the duration of the analysis request.

6. Third-party processors

We use third-party AI services to analyse email content for fraud indicators. Content is transmitted securely and is subject to the processor’s data processing agreements. We do not permit processors to retain your data.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, and port your personal data. You may also withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@guardmail.uk.

8. Cookies

Our website uses essential cookies only (e.g. localStorage for waitlist state). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

9. Children’s privacy

GuardMail is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on our website.
